six years

Today marks six years since the day we were married. At this time on that day, I already had my hair done and was getting ready to leave for the temple. I was nervous and excited. It was the best feeling to walk through those doors and see Wendel standing there and to feel peace wash my nervousness away. Last night we were talking about all of the hurdles we've jumped through since we've been married (mostly having to do with school). I think they've made us stronger. Best decision I've made.

P.S. I thought I'd reach into my scrapbooking archives and post this page that I made several years ago (since I don't actually have time to scrapbook anymore).

new love

I feel like I haven't blogged in forever! I have been so busy with work and company in town (more about that later). For now, I want to share some pictures. I have a new love - shooting weddings. We photographed a wedding last weekend. I was nervous because a wedding is so much pressure...making sure you capture the moments that can't be duplicated. It ended up being one of the easier shoots we've done. They were just so happy and in love. We didn't have to tell them to move in closer or pretend that they liked each other. There were no fake smiles. They made it easy to capture some great candid shots. I really enjoyed the process. Here are some of my favorites (I will also add these to our photography blog, and will likely add more over there as I edit them). Click on them to make them bigger.

The top of the temple was being cleaned and was completely enclosed by scaffolding so we had to avoid shots with the whole temple in the background but it worked out okay.

(BTW, the colors don't show up quite as vibrant on my blog as they look in photoshop. Not sure why. But you get the idea.)

strep

So we have strep. It's one thing after another, but I have found comfort in watching Gilmore Girl re-runs. We only have seasons five and six, and I'm almost done with six...I'm pretty sure we need to buy the whole series. I really, really love that show (and W likes it too).

I was going to make a nice Easter Dinner yesterday and have my brother over but since we were sick we had to cancel. We were pretty bummed about it. Then a nice family in our ward brought us plates of Easter dinner, which we were so grateful for. We know a lot of wonderful people and we're grateful for them.

My Internet is working beautifully now so I can share some pictures of the book I made Lindsey and Dylan. It is super simple because 1) Simple is my style. 2) I started this book at 12:30am and finished at 6am the night before flying to Utah for the wedding. The first few pages are the sign-in pages, which you can see on the table next to the book. Throughout the rest of the book, I left room for them to write stuff, and there are pages which aren't pictured that allow for them to write about the bridal showers, wedding day, and honeymoon, and extra pages so they can add more pictures. (Click on the pictures to see them bigger.)

I took these pictures of the book displayed at the reception so the lighting wasn't the best and there is a glare on some of the pages, but you get the idea.

Back to Gilmore Girls...

wedding pictures

ETA: Some of you have asked me who Lindsey is. I have mentioned her in past posts, but for those of you just starting to read my blog, she is my little sister (nine years younger than me).
It's been a while. I'm back from Utah and have lots of pictures to share. We got back early Monday morning (2 am) and I got the flu the next day. W got it the day after the wedding so I drove us most of the way home. I don't think I had a chance of avoiding it after 15 hours in the car with him. I actually passed out while throwing up in the middle of the night on Monday and even have a bruise to prove it. W also passed out while throwing up while we were in Utah and has a gash in his back to show for it. I can't believe that happened to both of us! But we are finally near the end of it, which means I finally uploaded and edited some pictures from the wedding to share. (Click on them to see them bigger.)

Those are my favorites. I didn't take too many because they did have a professional photographer and I didn't want to get in her way, but it was fun taking a few. I also took this one in the mirror for my picture of the day on Friday. Not the best lighting, but it works.

It was such a beautiful wedding. Lindsey looked gorgeous and they really seem so happy together. I loved seeing how in love they are and how excited they were to make this commitment. I spoke at their wedding dinner on Thursday night and surprised myself by crying from the minute I started speaking. This is very unlike me - I don't even cry when I bear my testimony. Lucky for me we have it on video so I can relive it over and over (note the sarcasm). It was raining and hailing on their wedding day but it cleared up when they came out of the temple for most of their pictures. They spent their first two nights in Salt Lake and then left for their cruise on Sunday. Saturday afternoon we went to their apartment to watch them open their wedding gifts, which was fun (except that is when W passed out while throwing up). But overall the trip was wonderful and the wedding was perfect.

I am loving my break from school. I'm excited to be over this sickness so I can organize our house before another quarter tears it apart again. I will hopefully be back soon to share some pictures of the wedding book I made Lindsey and Dylan but no promises since my internet connection hasn't been working too well...
