thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving was lovely. It was nice having my family here (my brother and his girlfriend from Arizona, my mom and sister from Utah, and my other brother, who lives in Seattle).

It was my first time taking on a Thanksgiving dinner. Dub made the turkey though (I only helped a little) and it was delicious. We brined it first overnight and then cooked it upside down so the breast meat would be more tender.

My mom and sister helped me prepare a lot of the dishes. I made these mashed potatoes, this sweet potato casserole, some yummy creamed corn (consisting of butter, heavy cream, cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, and ritz crackers on top, as well as a few spices),regular corn, a really yummy pasta salad, a fall festive salad (with pomegranates, feta cheese, lettuce, sliced almonds, red onion, and poppy seed dressing), green beans, rolls, and stuffing from scratch. Then my mom made five pies for dessert. Needless to say, this was not a low-fat meal.

[We had this sitting out to munch on. My mom's homemade sweet pepper relish over cream cheese.]

[I made these little place settings in about two minutes...super simple, but they worked.]

The next morning we hit some of the sales (though we didn't get up super early). That night we put up our tree. (I love sitting with all of the lights off except for the tree lights and just enjoying it.) Then on Saturday we went to a park and set our camera on a tripod for some family pictures.

[I love this one of Levi and Leslie]

Then my mom, Levi, Leslie, and myself headed up to Seattle. We went to Pike's Place (I've never been there around Christmas-time. Cute decorations) and then took a ferry to Bainbridge Island.
[View of the city from the ferry. The Space Needle has a Christmas Tree on top!]

Bainbridge Island was decorated really cute for Christmas. We had pizza there and ice-cream from Mora's and then came back.

It was nice having my family here. Nice taking a little break from school. Nice watching "One Magic Christmas" and hanging out with everyone.

I'm totally jealous of your photography and scrapbook/crafty stuff talents. Yes, I do scrapbook, but nearly as cute as you do. :-P
