first ultrasound

I had my first ultrasound last week. Ultrasounds are amazing! Seeing an image of our baby appear on the screen was incredible. I was surprised by how much I loved it. The tech I had wasn't too enthusiastic or talkative and W couldn't be there but I decided to just be excited by myself anyway. The baby raised his/her arm up and then brought it down to his/her face and it looked like he/she was sucking on his/her thumb. He/she also extended and bended his/her legs and seemed pretty active the whole time. (I can't wait until we know the sex so I can just say he or she.) I know people always wonder what they're looking at when they see these scans but I think it's pretty amazing.

that is soooo exciting! ya know, I never could see anything in those images for a long time. then when I volunteered at the hospital as an interpreter, I interpreted many times for maternal/fetal appts. and got alot better at recognizing what i was seeing. it is really neat!

That's a great profile shot! What a little cutie. Those techs there never say anything (I actually think they're not really supposed to say much) and you're always in suspense wondering if everything looks okay. He/she is super cute already.

Yes, I hate how hush hush the techs are. But you got a great shot of the profile! Congrats again, my friend!

Awww! Baby's first photo--I love it, and am sure that there are many more to come in his/her lifetime ahead.

The alternative to calling the baby "him/her" is to give a temporary gender neutral name like Billie Jo or Pat, like my friends did. I think the ambiguous him/her is a much better alternative. :)

I don't care how weird people say those pictures are I always love them. It's so amazing to put an image to the movement and growth going on inside you! And, I've been lucky once to have a tech who was just as excited to show me everything and printed off about a dozen photos for me of all the cute images we were seeing. They're out there, but apparently a rare find!

That is so exciting. You are so lucky to live in a time where technology is so wonderful. You can hear the heartbeat and see the baby on an ultrasoundund. We never had that. I can't wait to know what it is either.

Ab, After reading the other comments I went back and looked at it again. You can totally see the little nose and face. Ohhh I am so excited. Can you believe how much of the baby is developed in such a short time?

Don't know if you remember me...I'm so excited for you both (we'll all three of you, actually). I enjoyed looking through your blog and kinda catching up on your life. You take AMAZING pictures. Can't wait to see what you do with your own little girl (my humble prediction)
