the magic of christmas

It is 2:48 am and I am not even tired. I think it is the magic of Christmas that is to blame. I just put together our neighbor gifts (while watching Oprah). It was fun to spend a few hours in the kitchen tonight making yummy treats and packaging them up. As I turned out the lights downstairs to go to bed, I stopped and looked at our tree, with its bright lights shinning. I couldn't help but smile. As I was caught up in the moment, I noticed it looked especially white outside. I peeked out the window and the sight nearly took my breath away. Everything is quiet and beautiful. The snow is fresh and soft on the street, the lawns, the trees. Across the street, our neighbors have a nativity in their yard with a light shinning on it. I just stared out the window for a little while, taking it all in. This has been such a busy holiday season for me. I found myself wishing Christmas would still be months away rather than only a week. I have so much to do and so little time to do it in that I haven't really taken time to reflect on Christmas. It was nice to have a few minutes to myself to do that this morning.

What a beautiful site. I love it when it has just snowed, you are right, it is so peaceful. Then lights are one of my favorite parts of Christmas as you know..especially on snow. Can't wait to see you in a few days
