grump

Last night something very bad happened. No, not as bad as you're probably thinking. I'm just being dramatic. It is still kind of bad though. Most of my pictures on my computer were randomly corrupted last night at approximately 11:30. Just like that. Gone forever. As a photographer and avid record keeper, this is devastating. I just want to cry. For example, I sat down tonight to finally blog about our Mexico trip. I had kept notes during our trip so I could easily blog about it later. I uploaded and organized all of the pictures by day as soon as we got home. Now? That's right, every last one of them is gone. It is so depressing, I can hardly stand to think about it. And yes, they were backed up on an external hard drive. But that hard drive became corrupted as well. How does this happen? I just feel sick about it. (Although, once I do finally blog about Mexico, you will see that this really is not surprising given the events of our trip. I guess I should laugh about it and move on.)

Oh NO!! I feel your pain! Well, not completely, but this is something that I've been fearing for a while will happen to mine. I don't have anything backed up and I seriously need to get it all done! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss!

Oh no Ashley...That's horrible. I hope your trip was better than the flight fiasco getting there. We were happy to see you though.

That is so depressing. I always have a fear of that. I am going to get some disk and put all my pictures on them as soon as I can. That has happened to my sister and she lost everything. I am so sorry it happened to you.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I had something similar happen to our pictures at Cape Cod, MA. I was SO BUMBED! I still try to recreate the pictures in my head because I miss them! and we'll never get them back. Maybe they'll have the live version in heaven that we can relive....

so sorry!

Oh no! That is awful! I can't -imagine- how hurt I would be if that happened to me... Ugh. And I'm not anywhere near as invested in it as you are.
You should talk to a computer-know-it-all and ask them. Maybe the files are recoverable??
Good thing for blogs and stuff, eh? At least some of your pictures are available online or on cds that you gave to people.
Now I am going to start thinking about seriously backing up picture files. It doesn't help that I had a dream the other night about getting a 2.8 MGB USB memory stick thingie and was thinking about putting my pictures on it.... foreboding?
Anyhow... let us who follow your blog know how it all turns out! I hope you find a way to recover the pictures! Or at least figure out what happened!!

That's sooooo sad, sad, sad, sad, sad. :(

I thought we lost our blog earlier this year, and I just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry.

I'm so sorry. :(

this is so sad. when we bought our first digital camera when kyle was born i didn't get that i was supposed to frequently upload the picts to a computer...dumb i know. well one day when kyle was almost one i turned on my camera and the memory card was broken. i lost mostly all of his pictures from his first year, except the few i emailed people. i understand the devastation :(

That happened to me back in March. It is devastating isn't it. You feel like you lost a part of your life. May sound silly, but it feels crappy!

That is sooo sad!!! I'm so sorry. I feel a bit of your pain. Something happened to my pictures about a month ago and I lost all my pictures from October 2007. All I have is whatever I blogged that month. It's soooo hard to deal with when pictures, photography, scrapbooking is your life. Try not to worry too much about it. And just write down as many details about your trip that you can remember so that at least you have that :)

that happened to me a few months ago my photos got wiped from the external hard drive they were stored on (too many to keep on my laptop). I had a pit in my stomach for about 2 weeks.. I have a hard time getting over things, I guess ;)

so sorry. i know exactly how you feel. may the force be with you (to overcome that pit in your tummy)
