i'm back

We flew to Arizona last Thursday night unexpectedly. Our friends, Brian and Lori, had premature triplets a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the smallest one, Brock (born at 1 lb. 4 oz.) passed away. We really wanted to be there to support them during this sad time so we dropped everything and went. We haven't been back to Arizona since we moved here in January and it was really nice to visit. I think Mesa will always be a special place to us. Despite 110 degree weather it was really good to be there (and we really wish we would've had time to see all of our friends and family who live there).

We took our camera with us but only used it once...we were just so busy while we were there, we hardly thought about it. But here are a couple of pictures from our first night there. Dub took a few pictures of me with my step-sister, Megan's son, Austin. He kept smiling at me - he's so cute. Austin is wearing Dub's hat in the first two pictures. The lighting wasn't the best but I think these are still pretty cute. I'm a sucker for babies.

We're still recuperating from our long weekend and the heat (mostly the heat, I think) so we had a pretty relaxing 4th of July this year. Dub's sister and her husband came to visit with their foster kids and took them to the Seattle Zoo during the day (while we stayed home and relaxed) and then we enjoyed dinner together. They left early because their kids were getting tired so Dub and I watched some of The Office (love it), enjoyed some strawberries dipped in chocolate, and then joined our neighbors for some fireworks. It was perfect.

P.S. I also wanted to say congratulations to our friends Frank and Kamarah, who just had a baby girl, Maelee, on June 30th, and also to our friends Kristi and Ramsey, who recently found out they will be adopting a baby boy and went to pick him up last weekend. I'm so happy for all of them!

I'm glad that you were able to give comfort to your friends during their time of sorrow. I pray that the other babies are will grow strong and know that they are loved.
